WikiLeaks mom calls for Australian intervention (AP)
CANBERRA, Australia ? Julian Assange's mother has joined protesters in Australia's capital demanding the government oppose a possible U.S. extradition of her son in a WikiLeaks investigation.
Christine Assange protested with scores of people outside Parliament House during President Barack Obama's visit Thursday.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange filed papers in a British court this week in a last-ditch effort to stave off extradition to Sweden in a sex-crime case. He fears the United States will then extradite him from Sweden to face possible charges over WikiLeaks' release of classified U.S. documents.
Assange is Australian. His 60-year-old mother lives in rural Queensland state.
