The stellar Film Craft book series has released its latest volume, and it?s a big one: Directing. Put together by Screen International editor Mike Goodridge, the handsomely illustrated book boasts interviews with Clint Eastwood, Susanne Bier, Michael Haneke, Terry Gilliam and twelve other current filmmakers, as well as tribute essays on Jean-Luc Godard, Alfred Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman,and John Ford. As I previously wrote, these books are erudite and accessible overviews of the major film disciplines, including editing, cinematography and costume design. In other words, a cinephile?s delight.
