"Live Pink, Bleed Orange" Lady Vols game touches Head Coach Holly Warlick

Sunday night the Lady Vols turned in their orange and white uniforms for pink ones.

It was the annual "Live Pink, Bleed Orange" game to raise awareness about breast cancer.

This year, for Lady Vols Head Coach, Holly Warlick, the color pink took on a special meaning.

The traditional colors of orange and white took a backseat on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon it was all about pink and breast cancer awareness.

"There is no better vehicle than the Lady Vols to get word out and spread awareness about breast cancer," said Amy Dunaway with Susan G. Komen.

Dunaway and her crew with Komen Knoxville sold pink pom poms outside Thompson-Boling Arena Sunday to increase the presence of pink inside.

Pink was on everything from shoes to whistles to Holly Warlick.

This game meant something different this year. Holly's sister, Marion, was diagnosed with breast cancer in August.

"I couldn't understand it, because?I didn't feel bad," explained Marion Ferrill, "I could have been depressed but I didn't know what for, I didn't know anything yet."

The cancer was found through a routine mammogram. That is something?Holly and Marion?encourage all women to get.

"You do need to sit and look at my case and everybodys, I'm not the only one out there. If you do this it will save your life and?I hope that's what they come away with."

The game ball Sunday night?went to Holly's sister.

Holly explained, "I gave her a ball and said she's my greatest hero because she is, because as we are battling the game, that is a battle of life."

Currently, Marion?is cancer free?and both sisters hope it stays that way, "We've gotta stay on this and find a cure, because it's just everyone you know has been touched by it."

This game was a part of the Play 4Kay women's basketball initiative. It is an organization named for the former North Carolina State Head Women's Basketball Coach, Kay Yow, who died in 2009.

Also, Holly Warlick along with LSU's Head Coach, Nikki Caldwell, have started "Champions For A Cause" after Holly and Marion lost their grandmother to cancer.?

You can head online through?Monday night to bid in a silent auction to raise money to find a cure.
