FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO (November 16, 2011) ? The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) is honored to announce that the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE) presented the North Side chamber with first place in two categories and second place in two additional categories at the third annual IACCE Communications Awards program on Thursday, November 3, 2011.? The Communications Awards were presented at the three-day Fall Conference highlighting the successes and challenges chambers are facing today. More than 100 chamber executives from across the state were present.

?The LPCC is honored to be presented with four awards from the IACCE,? said LPCC President and CEO Kim Schilf.? ?Illinois is home to communities large and small, represented by chambers of commerce large and small providing innovative direction and communication tools; being presented an award among our peers is truly humbling.?

In June 2011, the LPCC partnered with TimeOut Chicago, the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Chicago History Museum, the Clark Street Special Service Area (SSA) #23, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Vesta to develop a piece that highlighted the many places to go, things to do and insider information about the Lincoln Park neighborhood.? This brochure was distributed through our community partners, the Chicago Office of Tourism, hotels and other high traffic locations. The brochure was also included as an insert in TimeOut Chicago magazines. Being presented first place for this inaugural piece recognizes its impact on the community. A cooperative piece being honored with first place by the IACCE recognizes the value of strong connections.

The LPCC was also presented first place honors in the IACCE?s Marketing Campaign category. This category honors chambers of commerce ?for a media mix pertaining to promotion of the Chamber itself or a specific Chamber event.? Through things like business advocacy and a comprehensive marketing strategy, the LPCC strives to promote the Lincoln Park community and its businesses as much as, or more, than the organization itself.

The LPCC?s community guide and membership directory, Discover Lincoln Park 2011, as well as the website ? www.lincolnparkchamber.com ? were presented with second place awards for their content and layout in the mid-sized chamber group. These pieces are valuable in the promotion of Lincoln Park businesses and the neighborhood?s assets as well as connecting several audiences to the diverse information they need on a daily basis. Discover Lincoln Park 2011 was distributed door-to-door to 10,000 residents and shared with high traffic areas similar to the TimeOut Chicago piece.

?As chambers of commerce continue to adapt their programming and other services to local businesses, communication is paramount to the success of both the organization and its members,? Schilf continued.? ?While we accept these awards as a singular organization, we encourage chambers of commerce from across Chicagoland and Illinois to work together to support the needs of each other and their respective business communities.?

The IACCE created the Communications Awards to provide Illinois chambers of commerce access to statewide recognition for their materials as well as offering another way for chambers to learn from each other.?
